Use a spare tablet as a family calendar and chore chart
A tablet in a drawer can become the family board in your kitchen. Everyone sees the day, and children check off their own tasks. You do not need new hardware or a subscription.
What you need
Any iPad or Android tablet that can run the Olive Shoots app, a stand or wall mount, and a charger. Olive Shoots is a one-time purchase of $49.99 for the whole family, with no subscription and no ads.
Set it up
- Install Olive Shoots on the tablet and sign in as a parent.
- Add your children. They do not need email addresses, accounts, or phones.
- Add events and tasks, give tasks points, and set the rewards that children can spend them on.
- Set a kiosk PIN or password, then start Kid Kiosk. Children can check things off, and nothing else. A parent closes it with the password.
- Mount the tablet where the family passes, and keep it on the charger.
What the board does each day
Children see what is next and tap to finish their tasks, and their points go up as they go. A change that a parent makes on a phone reaches the board. The daily report shows what each child did and what is left.
