Use Olive Shoots with an AI assistant
A parent can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude, to the family calendar in Olive Shoots. Then ask in your own words: what is on today, add a dentist visit, or mark a task done for a child.
Before you start
You need an Olive Shoots family that is unlocked, and you must be a parent in it. A child cannot connect an assistant, and neither can the Kid Kiosk.
Connect an assistant only in your own account, never in one that your children or the family tablet use. Anyone who can use that account can ask the assistant about your family.
Your connector link
Every assistant uses this link:
https://mcp.oliveshoots.family/mcp
You can also copy it in Olive Shoots: Settings, then AI assistants.
Connect Claude
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
- Choose Add, then Add custom connector. Name it Olive Shoots, paste the link, and continue until Claude adds it.
- Choose Connect and sign in to Olive Shoots. Read what Claude can do, then choose Allow.
Connect another assistant
In an assistant that can use custom connectors, such as Grok, add a connector and paste the link. Sign in to Olive Shoots when it asks, and choose Allow.
What your assistant can do
It can read your family calendar, the tasks and who has done them, the daily report, points, rewards, and goals.
If you allow changes, it can also add, change, and delete events and tasks, mark tasks done or not done, give or take points, redeem rewards, and manage rewards, goals, and categories. Most assistants ask you before a change. If it deletes an event or a task by mistake, ask it to restore it.
To connect an assistant that can only read, turn off Allow changes before you choose Allow.
What it never receives
Birthdays, photos, email addresses, PINs, sign-in details, the notes and links on events, and events from a connected Google Calendar. It sees only the first names of your children.
Things to ask
- What is on our calendar this weekend?
- Add soccer practice for Annie every Tuesday at 4 pm.
- Mark the reading task done for Charlie today.
- How many points does Annie have, and which rewards can she get?
Siri on iPhone
On an iPhone with iOS 18 or later, open Settings in Olive Shoots, then AI assistants, and turn on Siri. Siri can tell you about the calendar, tasks, and points, add events and tasks, and mark tasks done. Where Siri AI is available, Siri can also change and delete events and tasks. Before a change, Siri asks you to unlock your iPhone. A deleted item stays in Settings, then Recently deleted items, for 30 days.
To give a child a task, say “Add a reminder for Annie to feed the dog.” If you say “Remind Annie to feed the dog,” Siri can send Annie a message instead.
See and disconnect assistants
Every parent can see each connected assistant in Settings, then AI assistants, and disconnect it there. A disconnected assistant loses access at once. Each parent gets an email when an assistant is connected, and a connection that is not used for 90 days ends by itself.
Your privacy
What your assistant reads or changes goes to the company that runs it, and the privacy policy of that company applies. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
If something does not work
- If your assistant says that Olive Shoots must be unlocked, unlock it in the app, then try again.
- If your assistant does not know about something new, refresh its connector or tool list, or disconnect it and connect again.
